Hi - I've recently replaced my old various Twitter feeds with the new offical Twitter timeline widget described here https://dev.twitter.com/blog/api-v1-is-retired
This morning I started receiving a SiteAdvisor warning on every client page with the new feed.
Here's a sample: http://www.bella-studios.com/twitter.htm
Please advise. Thanks!
I too am having this problem on two of my sites with the official Twitter widget - http://astronomia.co.uk and http://viewpointoptics.co.uk
Please let me know ASAP what to do about this - I don't really want to remove the official Twitter widget from my sites just to avoid upsetting McAfee users!
Neil
Yes, the Twitter logo is being blocked. I selected astronomia.co.uk, and then had to delve into AdBlock and Abine to remove various blocks which were preventing the relevant scripts relating to Twitter from being loaded, but finally managed to reproduce the situation described above : a black SiteAdvisor banner across the top of the page saying content on the page is being blocked.
So I looked at the page code. The Twitter logo is being delivered via an iframe - not a brilliant way to display it, because iframes are inherently suspect and are liable to be blocked. SiteAdvisor has a low tolerance threshold when it comes to iframes because they're a favourite way to infect a system with malware.
To get around this you have to whitelist the site. Simple enough : just click on the "View all blocked content" button. It's now in the list of allowed sites that you will see if you click on the SiteAdvisor symbol and select Options --> Trusted Sites. And the Twitter logo re-appears on the page.
I still don't know why it's in an iframe, which is inherently unsafe.
