Trying to reduce CPU load and Harddisk access rate

Dear All,

I wanted to add some programs to the trusted list to so that McAfee Total Security 2009 don’t have to keep scanning them and put that mighty load on my CPU. I use programs like Dragon Naturlly Speaking, and constant scanning reduce the speed of the application drastically.

Any other advices on reducing CPU load and hard disk access rates will be very much appreciated.

Please advice.

Regards,

DD

RE: Trying to reduce CPU load and Harddisk access rate

You can only disable the automatic updates of McAfee, apart from that we don’t have any specific feature to disable in McAfee in order to reduce your CPU load

You may be able to reduce your 'CPU load' by uninstalling parts of Total Protection.
For that, you have to go to the software panel and click on the McAfee SecurityCenter, then modify/remove. Just make sure you know what you are doing.
