McSVHost error went away...all was fine...then it came back...sigh. Back to same problems as before.
Through all of this though, I would like to congratulate Peacekeeper for trying very hard to "keep the peace"...you certainly live up to your name!
Special kudos to Peacekeeper!
McAfee...please fix this once and for all.

As i was on my main computer all yesterday (21st april) till about 10pm UK time I DID HAVE MCAFEE UPDATES IN THE EVENING (cant remember if it was a normal update or a software update)
MY NETBOOK WAS OFF TILL 10:30pm UK TIME.
Switched off at 10pm uk time, turned on 22nd april at 12pm UK time and an error occured on my computer it said as follows (or similar):
***NT/Authority/System....
DCOM server process launcher service terminated unexpectedly and windows needs to shut down***.
My pc keeps switching off, restarting all the time.

My pc was working fine till i switched it off at 10pm.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ UPDATE FROM ME ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As regards this issue I had above, I checked out the 2 links someone told me to look at, and I DID have that update where I had 5958 DAT file which caused this start-up restarting error. (not the McSvhost.exe error). I have taken the steps Mcafee listed in the topic to which this worked 100% why cant they find a cure to the McSvhost.exe error
I believe your system had the file svchost.exe quarantined as bad by McAfee. So even with the "good" dat 5960, your system is still unable to locate the file.
See this for more info- http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100969
Hello all,
First of all, I wanted to apologize for bad English. It is not my native language.
But with the help of Google and a dictionary, try to transmit my message.
My system is a intel dual core, with windows xp sp3, IE 8. When used MTP
2009 never had problems. But when upgraded to MTP 2010, I had Mcsvhost.exe the error
in the shutdown of the PC. At the time of the error, the version of the Security Center was this:
Version: 10.0
Build: 10.0.570
Last update: 02/23/2010
Then came an upgrade version of Security Center and became:
Version: 10.0
Build: 10.0.580
Last update: 04/14/2010
I want to inform you that after the upgrade, never had the error
Mcsvhost.exe in the shutdown of the PC.
I would add also that before the upgrade, I found a way of not
have the error (Mcsvhost.exe) in the shutdown of the PC.
I did the following: Before turning off the PC, I opened a Notepad window
(or more than one), and wrote something on it. Then turn off
PC. Then when windows was shutting down all programs he stopped in
Notepad window. So I waited a while (about a 30-s).
And after that, I closed the Notepad window. And the PC shutdown without the
message of error (Mcsvhost.exe). I am no expert on the subject, but from
what I see, it seems be a simple problem.
I hope with this statement have helped you.
Regards
