Whenever I boot up my system I get a popup message as follows: McAfee VirusScan....Some components of ActiveShield are either missing or might not have been installed properly. I click OK and the message goes away. My security seems to be OK but what is the deal with this message????

Do you have the enterprise version of Mcafee installed or is it the home version ?
How old is the computer ?
What is the operating system of the computer ?

I have the home version, 3 pc users. I have a laptop approximately 3 years old running Windows XP.

This error can be caused due to several factors :
Please follow the below steps to resolve the most common causes.
1. Uninstall any other antivirus software if installed .
2.Please run the removal tool from here and reinstall your programs from your account page in http://us.mcafee.com/root/login.asp
