How to tell if updates are really up to date???

Jump to solution

Is there a way to tell if Security Center updates are actually working correctly??

I have several PC's all running security center but the versions and dates displayed in the "About McAfee Security Center" tab do not agree.

One shows Security Center version 11.0.669 and VirusScan version 15.0.300. It says all updates are current.

Another shows Security Center version 11.0.654 and VirusScan version 15.0.294. It says all updates are current.

The third shows Security Center version 11.0.654 and VirusScan version 15.0.294. Running a manual update says "Scanning for Updates" which never finishes scanning.

All three show DAT version 6696.

MVT does not find any problems with any of them.

These 3 PC's are all running XP pro sevice pack 3 with current updates.

They are all up to date.   McAfee are in the middle of a phased release of an updated version of SecurityCenter so some systems will show the old and some the new depending on which server they deal with.

Basically if you right-click and check for updates and it says you are up to date, you are.    Eventually 11.0.654 will upgrade to the higher one, but in the meantime there is nothing to worry about.

Regarding the one that you were checking for updates and it never seemed to end, that could have been that the servers were temporarily unreachable.   Keep trying or wait until it auto-updates, and if it still does that or fails for some other reason, contact Technical Support, it's free via phone or online chat linked through Useful Links at the top of this page.

You were correct. One of the two updated two days ago and the other one updated last night. Now they are all current.
