Auto updates and scan not working

Running a new HP computer bought in July with Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit all up to date, IE8 all up to date and McAfee free from Comcast Security Center 9.15, Virus Scan 13.15 and Personal Firewall 10.15 all up to date.

Automatic VS updates/installs will run automatically as well as scheduled scans for 1 or 2 days then will not. Reboot will help again for 1-2 days then same thing, no automatic applications will run. Must do manual updates and scans.

Ran Virtual Technician that only shows dats out of date. Did a complete uninstall through Windows AND then ran MCPR removal tool and then reinstall. Ran good for about 3-4 days then same thing, automatic updates and scheduled scans will not run unless reboot but only for another 1-2 days.

Ran full virus scan, windows malicous tool and trojan remover. Nothing found.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

RE: Auto updates and scan not working

Hi,
Please confirm the following;
How is the computer connected to internet (Dsl,Cable . . )
Do you have any other third party antivirus software’s installed?
Did you make any recent changes for the computer?

RE: Auto updates and scan not working

Comcast cable, free McAfee. Third party software Spysweeper without anti virus and Tune Up Utilites however both were already on machine prior to earlier update and everything worked fine.

Only changes done PRIOR to McAfee update was the Microsoft security patches numbering about 13.
