Removing old devices from your McAfee account.

Hello.

You are able to reinstall, remove and rename a mobile device in your home.mcafee.account, but you can only reinstall a PC device.

An example of a very poor web design!

Did no one think at McAfee that people would want to remove PCs as well as mobile devices?

You are supposed to be able to remove devices from within a LiveSafe application on either a mobile or PC device.

The problem with this solution is it doesn't work!

You are prompted for your account password and asked twice to confirm removal. After confirmation, you are just taken back to the device screen/tab with the supposedly deleted device still there. I tried this on both a Windows 10 Pro PC and an Android 10 handset.

Your customers should not have to contact a support agent to accomplish something that McAfee's poor web site designers couldn't be bothered to provide.

Contacting a support agent to correct these issues/bugs, especially with resources stretched in the current Covid-19 epidemic, is like getting a brain surgeon to stick a plaster on a small cut on my finger!

Re: Removing old devices from your McAfee account.

hello,

one last question; came your McAfee product from a third party like HP for instance ?

in another topic i was reading that not every version that comes from a third a party has the option to remove or rename it seems. don't know why that is.

best is to contact McAfee support ;

https://service.mcafee.com

Re: Removing old devices from your McAfee account.

Hello.

Thank you for your assistance and nice replies.

It came from McAfee direct and was not a pre-installed version.

Once the Covid-19 issue is resolved, and support get back to their normal numbers, I will contact them.

Hopefully, they will also provide the functionality in your home.mcafee.com account; which they do for mobile devices.

Re: Removing old devices from your McAfee account.

Hello.

No McAfee Mods have tried to explain why their software fails to work in deleting old items from your account.

So I went with another company, whose product works and provide a variety of methods of contacting support, instead of McAfee's dependence on a dedicated band of volunteers.
