Total Protection window shows risk and will not scan

I have recently installed McAfee Total Protection on my iMac but I have the following problems. Advice will be appreciated.

The Total Protection App Home tab shows ‘At risk’

Opening the dialogue box shows the risk  to be :

    Real Time scanning  -  Off

    McAfee Web Advisor - Off

On opening the dialogue box for Real Time Scanning - the status is ‘On’

On opening the dialogue box for McAfee Web Advisor the status is ‘Off’, yet on unlocking and setting the status to On - this is not maintained once the dialogue box is closed.

On opening the MacSecurity tab, the the status is Off. After clicking the ‘Turn On Button’ page says ‘Ready for a virus scan’ with the options of full Scan or Custom Scan

On clicking either of these buttons  (either one), the status is ‘Initiating scan’ yet the status on the MacSecurity says that Realtime scanning is off (the other status are OK).

After sometime  - Message - ‘Scanning stopped - no response from scanners’

In Privacy and Security/ Full Disc Access: fmpd; McAfee Network Extensions; VShieldScanManager; VSheildScanner and VShieldTaskManager all ‘On’  

Operating System - MacOS Ventura 13.0.1
