Cannot Install Total Protection - M1 Max - Ventura 13.0.1

Hello there,

I recently purchased a new computer and set it up from my previous iMac with OS Monterey. I had Total Protection, which was working on that set up.

I upgraded to OS Ventura shortly after it released. When I logged in I received error messages and could not run Total Protection at all. I stopped the program from starting at login and had no more error messages.

I recently uninstalled the program to try and do a reinstall. I downloaded the appropriate file from the 'My account' dashboard (mcafee-macinstaller-3.3) and opened the file. The McAfeeInstaller.app window presents itself and I click on this and provide the permission to make changes.

When I click ok, a window pops up for less than a second. I recorded my screen to see what the window is and it is labelled 'McAfee Master Installer' with the messages:

Setting up

Hang on...

We're checking for software that might not work properly with the McAfee software you're installing.

The screen disappears and there is nothing. It is as if the program has crashed and has closed itself.

From reading the support forums, it seems that this is a known fault, however, I cannot find a resolution.

Can someone help please?

The same issue with the installer happens for LiveSafe on Apple M1 Ventura 13.1 OS.

It's been 2 years since Apple release the M1 chip and major software now natively support M1 but McAfee have remained in the cave ages. Despite lots of customers have problems on theirs Mac M1, still no sign of supporting M1 from McAfee.

Very poor product and support.

I experience the same problem. Unable to install the Total protection on my Mac mini M1 - ventura.  The installation window is disapearing .  I remove the said files but that doesn'T change anything.   I'm tired of this situation.

Re: Cannot Install Total Protection - M1 Max - Ventura 13.0.1

I had this problem, too and followed the instructions by the McAfee Moderator @Nagesh_G. However, the problem outlined by @Telemeister6000 persisted. I restarted my computer, and the problem persisted.

When I went back and rechecked the locations, I noticed an extra location that wasn't on the Moderators list:

/Library/McAfee

You will need to move this McAfee folder to the bin too.

You then need to go back and check all the other locations from the original list because some files may have reappeared. Once you've double-checked all the locations and emptied the bin, try installing again.

This process worked for me, and I hope it works for everyone else.

TIP: If you downloaded McAfee total protection a while ago and didn't record the serial number, you must download it again! Goodluck 😊
