I need help on how to recover a vault.
What happened: my current hard drive broke as a "boot device". However it can be accessed normally as an external hard drive.
I was able to locate the vault file in the hard drive (as a hidden file), as well as my other files I'm regular folders.
Now I have the file in hand - "daniel.vault" - and I cannot open from my other computer. It asks me to select a program to open it.
I am also not being able to "copy and paste" or "drag and drop" the vault file inside the "VAULT" folder created by the Macafee Software.
Can someone give me a hand with this?
How can I open this file and get my files back? I do know my password, I just need the correct path to open the vault file.
Regards,
Daniel
Solved! Go to Solution.
I have already called the support and they didn't help at all.
It turns out that the procedure is quite simple. I discovered accidentally.
I am impressed that the support could not help with such a simple thing.
Anyway, here is what you should do:
The user must have the Macafee Software installed, obviously.
Then go to Windows Explorer and click on "Macafee Vaults" -
"Advanced" - "Access External Vault" - then search for your file,
type in your password and you're done. There are your vault files.
To find the vault file in your hard drive you must do the following:
1. Start - Control Panel - Appearance and Personalization -
Advanced settings, click Show hidden files, folders, and drives,
and then click OK.
2. Your vault file will be in: C:\Users\TEMP\AppData\Local\McAfee File Lock.
* you will not be able to see the file unless you do the first step.

Daniel

They will tell you what can and cannot be done.
