Unclear meaning of the design of the "Ports and System Services" list

I am struggling a bit with the design of the "Ports and System Services" list in LifeSafe. Previous posts of others did not clarify everything.
My understanding of ports is that they can be either stealthed, closed or open. How is that
reflected by the list?

What is the status of a port that is in the list, whose box on the very left is checked and
whose definition says that it is open for computers in the private or company network? Can this port be accessed only from other computers in the private or company network and is stealthed for the rest of the world?

Furthermore, what is the status of the same port if the box is NOT checked? Finally, what is
the status if the port is not in the list at all?

Any clarification is deeply appreciated.

Re: Unclear meaning of the design of the "Ports and System Services" list

Hi @Berndt,

We have seperate features on McAfee firewall.

i)Traffic controller - This feature allows you to configure your firewall to handle your programs when they try to connect to the internet. This includes stealth, monitored lockdown and smart access.

ii)Ports and system services - This feature allows you to open a port on your PC so a service can be accessed on your network and the internet.

If you check the port then that is opened only for the computer and not for others. This means the applications which is using these ports can continue to use the same without any hassles. If it is not checked, possibly the application using these ports cannot communicate and will ask for the permission to continue every time when internet accessed for any update of the same. Moreover, you can ADD/CREATE if you require any ports pertaining to the application that is installed on your device if you receive any error as the security products blocking those applications.
