Windows 10 HVCI mode

Hi,

New computer witha fresh install. Windows 11 Pro.

Installed Total Protection. I am not on the free trial. I am on a subscription.

I get a notification that the Security scan plus is not compatible when HVCI is enabled.

Give me a straight answer. I have been searching around but there seems to be none.

I have reinstalled it. Same problem.

I will request refund if this is not solved. Since this means that i cannot use this tool.

Re: Windows 10 HVCI mode

Hi @jay711 ,

We would like to keep you updated that McAfee Security scan plus is a free diagnostic tool that makes sure you’re protected by actively checking your computer for up-to-date antivirus, firewall, and web security software. Security Scan Plus scans for threats such as malware, trojans, and unwanted programs actively running on your computer.

Kindly check the KB article TS100782 to know more about the Security Scan Plus product.

We would recommend you to initiate a scan on McAfee Total Protection to ensure your device is protected instead of McAfee security scan plus.

Kindly check the below link to disable HCVI mode:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/threat-protection/device-guard/enable-virtualizat...

If this information was helpful in any way or answered your question, please mark it as the accepted solution and give Kudos if appropriate.

Regards,
Abhishek

Re: Windows 10 HVCI mode

New member    had the same problem

i.e  program  Not Compatible

Macafee security scan plus not compatible when WINDOS 10 HVCI mode is enabled   please clos application

sorry to say I am 75 years old and thus have little knowledge of PC's but my new one is Windows 11 fro HP envy.   didnt realise it still has windows 10 things on there.

I saw the answer

How to turn off HVCI

  1. Run the following command from an elevated prompt to set the HVCI registry key to off:

ConsoleCopy

reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\DeviceGuard\Scenarios\HypervisorEnforcedCodeIntegrity" /v "Enabled" /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

  1. Restart the device.
  2. To confirm HVCI has been successfully disabled, open System Information and check Virtualization-based security Services Running, which should now have no value displayed.

Alas I am now dated   i.e. 75 years old and dont have a lot of PC knowledge,  so could I ask  how to do

  1. Run the following command from an elevated prompt to set the HVCI registry key to off:
  2. what is an elevated prompt ?

hope you can help me because I think this is why a number of downloads are not getting through  e.g.  my Barclycard statements will not download stopped by macafee security
