Stop McAfee Popups

I have paid subscription on McAfee Total Protection and I get these annoying popups where they want you to use more services:
"Start monitoring my info"
"Boost your protection score"
"Take me to VPN"
"Web security"
"Email security" https://routerlogin.uno/

etc. Scam education and more. I have googled and turned off informational alerts and protection alerts but still these popups happen. I am ready to throw it out the window. I want protection. I don't want unsollicited advertising.

Re: Stop McAfee Popups

Hello @taimen

Unfortunately, what you are suggesting does not work. I can refer you to my post on the forum titled A message to LiveSafe Marketing Team and product designers

The two ways for stopping the pop ups, Information Alerts and Browser site notifications simply do not address what we are reporting here. McAfee, from its running LiveSafe app, is pushing marketing offer pop ups right on our desktop. Some are about VPN, others about Quick Scan, etc...

Just like the person who created this post, I am extremely unhappy with pop ups created on our desktop despite being paid customers, this is a very bad business practice.

We need a mechanism to stop these pop ups now.

Re: Stop McAfee Popups

I have this exact same problem (and have had it for a while), but today it interrupted a very important meeting - that's it, I'm done. If McAfee doesn't solve this I'm cancelling my subscription. I cannot believe I have no choice but to have this shoved down my throat without giving me the possibility to stop!!

Re: Stop McAfee Popups

So, just FYI (I'm talking to the original poster) I've confirmed with McAfee tech support that these notifications/alerts CANNOT be stopped. This is it, I am done. I'm cancelling my subscription.

Re: Stop McAfee Popups

Here speaks another long-time paying customer annoyed by the frequent marketing pop-ups. Up to now I suffered in silence and dismissed the pop-ups as they appeared. But sometime yesterday, a new pop-up (“Boost your protection score”) showed up that is more obnoxious than any I’ve seen before. Firstly because it’s animated. But more importantly, it resists all attempts to dismiss it.

Click on the X in the upper right-hand corner? Nothing happens. Click on the "check my score" button? Nothing happens. I went into Task Manager looking for something to kill. I killed the only McAfee task that was consuming cpu and that stopped the animation. But now I'm left with a white hole on my desktop where the pop-up used to be. It took a reboot to get back to normal.

This wasn’t a one-off. Wy wife got the same pop-up and couldn’t get rid of it either.

Re: Stop McAfee Popups

As of this date (7/21/2023) on Windows 10 I finally, after much searching to no avail, simply picked the topmost Mcafee listing in the task manager and 'ended task' thinking it would completely stop ALL of Mcafee on my computer (which I really didn't want to do) but I had so much stuff open on my computer I didn't want to reboot. It worked.

I'll also be looking for an alternative to Mcafee at my leisure.

Re: Stop McAfee Popups

That doesn't work. Any other suggestions?

Re: Stop McAfee Popups

I'm dumping them. Not worth the hassle.
