A message to LiveSafe Marketing Team and product designers

I have been a LiveSafe customer for many years and I will uninstall McAfee now and not renew because of McAfee's LiveSafe policy to spam paying customers straight on their desktop with messages from the application that we cannot deactivate in any way. I have been on the phone and web chat for weeks and was finally confirmed that *nothing* can be configured to stop McAfee LiveSafe from sending me pop ups such as Check your protection with a quick scan or the very frequent Protect your privacy online with VPN. I want my privacy protected by not receiving messages from McAfee marketing, and I am told the only way I can do this is by uninstalling the software and cancelling my membership. McAfee was not doing this before. So whoever internally decided this was a great business practice, is wrong. Especially coming from a company that should help us with security and online privacy.

Hello @PatBca

Sorry about the inconvenience these pop ups are information alerts we have a option to disable these alerts open McAfee UI click on settings>> General Settings and information alerts>> Information Alerts>> make sure the check box is unchecked and click on apply. This should disable the alerts if in case you still face any problem kindly reply to this post.

@Edward_Franso

Unfortunately, what you are suggesting does not work.

The two ways for stopping the pop ups, Information Alerts and Browser site notifications simply do not address what I am reporting. McAfee, from its running LiveSafe app, is pushing marketing offer pop ups right on our desktop. Some are about VPN, others about Quick Scan, etc...

We need a mechanism that works to stop these pop ups now.

Re: A message to LiveSafe Marketing Team and product designers

I echo the original poster's message.  The marketing messages from McAfee have to stop!  I've called support and disabled all notifications from the LiveSafe settings.  I've also disabled all notifications from Windows for McAfee.

However, McAfee still interrupts my workflow multiple times a day with pop ups from the McAfee app that block a good portion of my screen.  The pop ups must be closed as they block all open windows.  I DO NOT want to see these annoying marketing messages!!!!   My McAfee LiveSafe installation is a PURCHASED product, not a free version of an app.  It is totally unacceptable for paid users to be distracted by McAfee EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!!

If this shady Marketing practice is not stopped, then I will not be renewing with McAfee.

Re: A message to LiveSafe Marketing Team and product designers

Here it is in August, six months later, and still McAfee has done nothing to stop these ridiculous marketing messages from popping up. The newer Total Protection Live Safe version 16.0.100 and later give the user NO options to stop these popups, even though The Knowledge Center publication, "How to manage notifications in your Windows security app" says you can:

McAfee 1.jpg

BUT, THIS IS FALSE.  There is no such option listed in the app's General Settings and Alerts.

Fast approaching a decision to go back to Norton.

Re: A message to LiveSafe Marketing Team and product designers

as of today Mcafee refused to address the annoying marketing pop ups in its program which utilizes msedgewebview2 which is marketed to designers as a way to provide marketing messages direct to users. McAfee not only ignores complaints it is removed the ability to shut of alerts not only in its program but in Windows as well by not having an icon to select to block alerts. accordingly this is going to be sent to the Office of the federal trade Commission for research if McAfee does not immediately permit the blockage of alerts. the actions reek of disrespect of its users and I also will be discontinuing McAfee. after decades of using them.

from  task manager you can select McAfee line and click on arrow to show subheadings and end the process msedgewebview2 in McAfee's line. and it will block the annoying pop ups until the computer is restarted . its a sneaky way to by pass a browser pop up blocker as it is actually a pop up on microsoft edge but with out needing a browser open,

However msedgewebview2 is used by other apps that don't take advantage its clients should be left running and not disable for example viewing PDFs .

This is a massive violation of my trust in this company - I am getting to the point I'd prefer a virus as it has less popups than this premium app costing me many hundred of dollars a year - just to have endless popups. Check your rubbish score! Use our VPN!
