Tried altering install.rdf and it wont take the change for some reason.
That's a similar method to the one I utilised to keep Google Toolbar working throughout these updates.
If you mean you can't save, you need to
1) turn off Access Protection
2) open Notepad as Administrator and then open and edit the install.rdf
Also, there are usually several install.rdf's on a system - ours is in the (obvious?) place of C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\SiteAdvisor.

Thanks.
Has a fix been released yet by McAfee.I have checked which version of SA I am using and it says 3.4.0.143 which is the latest version.I am slightly confused as all people seem to be doing is altering the install.rdf
Is that going to be the only way to get it to work from now on?
The version number hasn't changed but an update must have occurred because I had manually changed the install.rdf to max version 12 and now it says 15.
I took the plunge and updated to FF8.SA does work but what is baffling me is although SA tells me that I am running the latest version 3.4.0143,when I look in my FF plug-ins it says version 3.4.0.135
Under extensions it just says 3.4.0
I had manually changed the install.rdf to max version 8 and now it says 15.I have not received any notice.in security center

Mine too and I'm afraid I can't explain that.

You wouldn't see any notice as SiteAdvisor updates silently.
Mine started working on it's own today.
