new version does not uninstall old

Oh dear, my siteadvisor has been automatically changed to 2.8.255 tonight. I know that this version has issues over it having a toolbar of its own especially on Firefox, but why didn't it uninstall the old version? Now I have two entries in Add/Remove Programs, I also have C/Program Files/McAfee/Siteadvisor and C/Program Files/Siteadvisor, two entries in add-ons in Firefox, one version 26.6 and one 2.8. What a mess! Surely an update should be better than this! How do I clear this up? Would it be better to uninstall the lot and use other software such as WOT instead? Not happy!!

RE: new version does not uninstall old

It should have upgraded the existing one. I would uninstall both via Add/Remove and reinstall from your account or http://www.siteadvisor.com

You'll probably end up with the old version for a while. There are issues as you say, they are being worked on.
