I am having the same exact issue with my Outlook. I did a live chat with a McAfee rep and they told me that it is not a McAfee problem but a Microsoft problem. Contacted Microsoft, they told me to reinstall Outlook. That didn't fix it either and I continue to have the problem.
Hi All,
Just as a workaround, try if this helps you to fix the problem:
Navigate to C:\Program Files\McAfee\Site Advisor\saSets.ini – open it and change the value of Outlook from 1 to 0 (check the enclosed screenshot for more information)
Reboot the computer and check the status.
I tried to update the file. It says I do not have permission to update in this folder. Any options?
Hi,
Sorry Aldrin but I have not seen your answer before and I tried this:
I did a system restore dated January 3, 2011 which eliminated the problem. However this caused a problem with real-time monitoring of McAfee. So I installed and excuted the software McAfee Virtual Technician. This has solved the new problem. I rebooted 2 or 3 times my computer to check if everything worked well and everything is alright.
Thank you
Adrin
This problem is exceedingly irritating and it is not exclusive to outlook. Can you either roll back the most recent update to the previous version or get this fixed and issue an an update? You guys broke it, now please fix it!!
This is one very good reason to not allow automatic updates. Never again!
Following an automatic update of McAfee this morning the problem is reappeared.
Hi,
I would like to know what exactly happening after McAfee update ? If you're getting any error message please post that error message which would be helpfull for us to figure out the issue.
The other post have screen shots. Here is what I copied after I broke the editor at the line where the error is at.
var SEValidLinks = [null, validlink_google, validlink_yahoo, validlink_msn, validlink_aol, validlink_ask,validlink_uol, validlink_goo, validlink_myway, validlink_baidu, validlink_live, validlink_terra, validlink_comcast, validlink_web, validlink_biglobe, validlink_sonet, validlink_cox, validlink_gmx, validlink_excite, validlink_sky, validlink_nate, validlink_naver, validlink_nifty, validlink_bing];
The fix does not work, I am told that I don't have permission to make the fix. The error that I get is:
var SEValidLinks = [null, validlink_google, validlink_yahoo, validlink_msn, validlink_aol, validlink_ask,validlink_uol, validlink_goo, validlink_myway, validlink_baidu, validlink_live, validlink_terra, validlink_comcast, validlink_web, validlink_biglobe, validlink_sonet, validlink_cox, validlink_gmx, validlink_excite, validlink_sky, validlink_nate, validlink_naver, validlink_nifty, validlink_bing];
Restoring my system does not fix the error.
Mcafee/Prakash - Would you please just roll back the update and figure out what's wrong on your own time? This is really rediculous! The errror in Outlook is attached but this same problem occurs in Yahooo instant messenger as well.
