Hi can anyone help me with a recent problem that I am having, WebAdvisor has started to hog the vast majority of my memory. I was wondering if there was any work arounds or fixes that might be known, the version I am running is below.
Any help would be appreciated as I have to keep turning it off when my browsers start to stall.
Solved! Go to Solution.
The WebAdvisor team were able to determine the cause - many thanks to those who shared logs to help us identify the problem.
As a result, we've been able to fix the problem and have now released McAfee WebAdvisor 22.214.171.1249, which you will soon receive through the standard update mechanism.
However, if you want to update sooner, the new version can be downloaded from www.mcafee.com/mcafeewebavisor or www.SiteAdvisor.com, (Note: please use Internet Explorer to download in order to get this latest version immediately).
Please post back to confirm if this fixes the problem you are experiencing.
I am running the same Version/Build and I am not experiencing such? My Browser is Internet Explorer 11/Windows 7 Sp1. Site Advisor/Web Advisor (Team Members) frequently monitor the threads in the Community. Perhaps one of the Technicians will add to the discussion.
All the Best,
I moved this to the WebAdvisor section as a better spot for it.
I can't reproduce this either.
Is your system up to date and not employing any beta versions of browsers?
Then I would check for spyware using maybe MalwareBytes Free

Sorry forgot to mention what I am running
Firefox version 126.96.36.19979
Chrome version 53.0.2785.89 m
Do not use Internet Explorer
Thanks for replying Cliff, Peter
You are perfectly welcome During the interim, Colleague Exbrit's suggestion I also agree with.
Plus the Application he mentioned is entirely (Free) as long as you do not Activate/Enable the Pro Version.
It is simply a complimentary Application to your McAfee Protection. And is totally compatible.
All the Best,
Hi Cliff, Peter
I tried those programs that you pointed me to, but I still seem to be having the same issues I have pasted a screen shot below of Task Manager to give you an Idea as to how much memory WebAdvisor is using with only Firefox open and just this forum window open. Seems like I will have to go and see what Tech support has to say about it.
Thank you anyway for trying tohelp me sort the problem out, you have t the very least given me some very usefull tools for future use.
Kind regards Madmurphy
The only other reason for this that I can think of would be if WA is having trouble communicating with it's servers.
Have you had any network issues lately?
As I suggested earlier I think Technical Support probably the best avenue for you now. It's free of charge by phone or online chat.
i was able to notice this High CPU usage for a short while however the usage was almost negligible when I refreshed Firefox. See steps below
1. Open Firefox and in the address type about:support
2. Click Refresh Firefox button and Re-open Firefox.
3. Go to Extensions and enable Web Advisor
Now you will notice that the Usage is minimal
