I have been called away on an emergency and am not sure when I will be back. It may be late tonight. Sorry. I will message you when I get back.
Just an update ... I just checked my system and WA process was up to 4 GB+; 88% of system memory used and disk drive spinning non-stop. I ended the process via Task Mgr.
I disabled Web Advisor in Firefox, then I disabled Site Advisor in Chrome. This helped for several days as the process never started up. However, after the windows 10 update this last week the Web Advisor process is running rampant again. I tried to enable and disable it in the browsers again, but something else is kicking it off that I have not tracked down yet. I will try again next time I restart, but as is I am having to kill the Web Advisor process several times a day.
If you read through these threads, our engineers from the (Web Advisor Team) are aware of this issue. They have been collecting logs to help to reproduce/resolve this issue. During the interim, you can easily go to your (Add Remove/Programs and Features) in your (Control Panel) Locate Web Advisor and remove/Restart afterwards.
During the interim you could possibly choose to use( Wot ) until you reinstall McAfee Web Advisor. Although it does not provide the additional in-depth protection features as McAfee Web Advisor, it should suffice.

That's fine. I did not see any posts on the Win10 update causing the problem to re-appear so decided to add it.
I have the same problem, running AVT fixes it for a day or two then it's back.
Kurt .... Thanks for documenting this point about the dastardly MS Win10 update in the thread. I did document on my original post that my problems began shortly after the "forced" MS Windows 10 "anniversary" update was applied to my system on 08/29/16, however I failed to really point out any possible correlation to updatet. I did let the engineer who remoted into my system know that I think there may be a direct cause/effect with the Win 10 update when conversing with him on our remote session chat log.
As of this morning when I "woke" my system it was at 6+ GB of memory usage for the WebAdvisor (WA) process. I managed to get Task Mgr up after about five minutes of delay and killed WA again ... then my system returned to normal. Please note that WA will restart itself after some amount of time, even if you turn off "Real time scanning" on the McAfee SecurityCenter console.
I have since uninstalled WA per Cliff's recommendation above and rebooted. I do have Webroot (WOT) Filtering Extension running on my Chrome sessions. So far everything is running smoothly w/o WA installed. McAfee SecurityCenter console is showing all components enabled and active, including Real Time Scanning .... so there doesn't appear to be any granularity on that display regarding the WebAdvisor component.
I hope this info is helpful.
Thanks Cliff. I didn't realize that the recommendation was to proceed with uninstall WebAdvisor, including us participating in diagnostic gathering,
Much obliged for that info, as my system was seizing up at the absolute most inopportune times! ; =}
You are quite welcome Please note that the recommendation to do so, was a suggestion on (my part). Having said this..I would reinstall McAfee Web Advisor as soon as the Web Advisor Team works out the bugs.
In other words, only being a Temporary solution until
All the Best,

Cliff .... thank you! I think that is the only option at this point, as temporary process kills aren't doing the trick, even with "Real Time scanning" disabled and the setup option toggled to not start RTS at startup and following a system restart.
I do have a question for you .... I would like to understand more about what protection functions are still active and working with RTS turned on once WebAdvisor is uninstalled. I have reviewed the user doc and don't see a breakdown in functionality between WebAdvisor being installed and without it installed. It may be in the doc, but maybe using terminology that I don't clearly understand as differentiating between the various functions, at least from an end user viewpoint. After uninstalling WA and rebooting my dashboard status looks the same .... all green statuses, including RTS.
Thanks for your continued attention to this issue, Cliff.
