WebAdvisor Issue

As of this week, every time I access my home page, an annoying McAfee window opens that says my WebAdvisor is not working.  But it is working.  Is there any easy way to stop this alert window from appearing?

@patrelle

Please share the screenshot for the error shown by McAfee WebAdvisor along with McAfee WebAdvisor version on the browser.

Re: WebAdvisor Issue

I am unable to copy/paste a screenshot here.  The message on the screen says:

McAfee WebAdvisor has stopped working

Windows can check online for a solution to the problem.

  • Check online for solution to the problem
  • Close the program.

View problem details.

Nothing I do seems to resolve the issue.  Also, I don't know how to find the WebAdvisor. version on my browser.

Also, I don't know how to find the WebAdvisor. version on my browser.

Click on the web advisor icon top right of the browser.

Choose options and about that shows the version.

Note this will not show in Edge  and in IE you will need to click on the gear settings icon and choose add on and check toolbars and extensions option on left the WA details are there.

Re: WebAdvisor Issue

Mine is 4.1.0.34.

See what the mods here say really I would try removing WA and reinstalling it either via your installed Mcafee program or from www.siteadvisor.com.

Re: WebAdvisor Issue

Is it really necessary to reinstall WA to resolve this issue?

Re: WebAdvisor Issue

That was my thought though the mods might suggest another way.

@patrelle

Try the below steps and update us

  • Close all browsers
  • Close McAfee
  • Goto C:\Program Files\McAfee\WebAdvisor
  • Right-click updater.exe and select "Run as Administrator"
  • Reboot the computer
  • Open browser
  • Remove browser cookies and cache
  • Close and Reopen the browser
  • Check the status

Re: WebAdvisor Issue

The annoying pop-up has decreased for some reason.  May try your suggestion if the alert window starts to increase again.  Thanks!
