WebAdvisor In Firefox Causes Drop-Down Menu Problem

Jump to solution

This happens using the latest 64-bit Firefox Quantum.

The drop-down menus at the top left on this website don't function at all with WebAdvisor active even though I have trusted that website.   I also tested if Web Boost had any effect and it didn't.    This is not a behaviour I've seen in WebAdvisor before.

Everything smack-bang up to date.

Correction, WA must have updated itself as it now works fine on that page, and all drop-down menus work again.  Or maybe the website did some tweaks as they were aware of it.

Version 4.1.0.78 in the browser but in Firefox Extensions it says version 7.0.0.27772

Thank you.

Agreed matey I checked and same with my Firefox though edge IE11 and chrome all work for those menus. Do you see this in any other sites?

See if one of the mods see this if not maybe contact one one of our old friends in the McAfee camp

Thanks for the backup Tony.   Nice to see /hear you.   There is hope that support might answer this as I saw other WA complaints addressed.   I would just really like to know exactly why it does it.

@exbrit

Please share the WebAdvisor version on FF and Edge. Also try updating WebAdvisor as below

  • Close all browsers
  • Right click updater.exe from c:\Program files\McAfee\WebAdvisor\ and run as administrator
  • Open Firefox
  • Check it it works

7.0.0.27772 - tried updating, as Administrator, Nothing happened.

It still blocks drop-down menus on that particular website.

This is Firefox 68,   I don't have Edge as this is Windows 7 SP1.

BTW these are all x64.

I do have Windows 10 Professional on another drive.

I tested that website in Edge with the WebAdvisor app installed and on....the page worked fine.

So it is only in Windows 7 SP1, Firefox v68 x64 that it doesn't.

IE11 it works fine.

@exbrit

Please remove WA extension from FF and reinstall from https://www.mcafee.com/consumer/en-in/store/m0/catalog/mwad_528/mcafee-web-advisor.html

Check the status
