V2.9.258 Fixes some Defects but not all

Free McAfee SiteAdvisor V 2.9.258 has fixed some defects but not others.

Fixed Defects:

-Blue “About” pop-up won’t close.
-Blue “General Settings and Search Settings” pop-up won’t close and options cannot be modified
-Green “Show Balloon” pop-up won’t close manually but times out and goes away.

Remaining Defects:

The Free McAfee SiteAdvisor SACore COM Server component, McSACore.exe 2.9.0.258, creates three temporary files at each system start and does not remove them at normal shut down. This defect began with version 2.9.0.239 of McSACore.exe.

These temporary files are created at each system start up and then abandoned at shut down in C:\WINDOWS\Temp in this XP Home SP3 IE7 environment. If you reboot once a day you see 90+ of these created each month.

Examples are:

sqlite_3V3yZ00uo2GPpSU
sqlite_E8MmQZdN247B4jG
sqlite_QfmvbhWl45fNDhh

And the “Upgrade without Permission” is still present. I would prefer being able to control “upgrades”.

RE: V2.9.258 Fixes some Defects but not all

I was just updated to Version 2.9.242 on IE8 without my permission.

The sqlite_ files are removed by CCleaner if you have the winapp2.ini with additional application detection installed:
http://www.ccleaner.com/download <== remember to un-select the Yahoo Toolbar if you don't want it
http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=1110 <== get the winapp2.ini file

I see that there is an update available so I will have to try to get it.

RE: V2.9.258 Fixes some Defects but not all

I am now at Version 2.9.258 but I had to go looking for it then download it and install it followed by a reboot but thankfully a reboot on my new Vista system takes a very short time.
