Why does siteadvisor mark a site as ok (green) in my search engine search but when I click the link it pops up a warning that I shouldn't go to the website?
Solved! Go to Solution.
SiteAdvisor is in the midst of being upgraded to provide more effective, granular protection at the URL level. This is being accomplished by migrating SiteAdvisor to the McAfee Trusted Source back end system.
As of SiteAdvisor 3.4, all browser navigations are being checked against McAfee Trusted Source for reputation. In other words, SiteAdvisor takes the link you are navigating to, sends it to McAfee Trusted Source, and Trusted Source tells SiteAdvisor whether that specific URL is suspicious. If it is suspicious, an appropriate redirection page is shown.
That said, SiteAdvisor 3.4 did not migrate the color-coded site ratings in search results and social networks over to Trusted Source due to some technical cross-dependencies that were not yet ready. This work is planned to be completed within the next few months. While these two different backend systems are exhibiting some discrepencies (like techware's post illustrates), ultimately the user is protected on the browser navigation by Trusted Source's higher level of protection. In the example above, our old legacy system believes advancedcosmicordering.com is a green site, while it appears the URL it navigates to (advancedcosmicordering.com/cosmicordering/) is deemed dangerous by Trusted Source.
Thanks for your patience as we work towards bringing consistency to the search and social ratings. As always, we thank you for using SiteAdvisor - and we look forward to bringing this and many more enhancements to your user experience!
Cheers,
Mark
