I'm running SiteAdvisor 3.3.1.129 with Firefox 3.6.15. After SiteAdvisor updated three days ago to this version, Firefox will crash upon restarting. I ended up having to disable all add-ons, working through enabling them one at a time and ended up finding out that it was SiteAdvisor that was causing the constant crashing. Is anyone else seeing this happening?
My machine is running Windows XP SP3 with 1.5 GB of memory. Have no problem with it in IE 8 and Site Advisor.
Camper65,
could you please provide the version of Site Advisor installed on your computer?
SiteAdvisor Version 3.3 (Build 3.3.1.129) which is part of Security Center 10.5
If there is a conflict between SiteAdvisor and Firefox (and this is the first report of FF crashing I've seen) then I suggest you submit a crash report to Mozilla so they can analyse it.
Directions on how to do that are contained in http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox%20crashes
There are, by the way, two new versions of Firefox available. If you click on Help in FF and then on Check for Updates, you will be updated to 3.6.16, which just might fix the problem you're having. On restarting FF you will be offered the chance of further updating to Firefox 4, but I see from other threads that that version seems to have introduced a number of new problems, so I for one am sticking with 3.6.16 for now.
Fo what it's worth, I have the same SiteAdvisor version, also on an XP SP3, and had no problems with FF 3.6.15, so the underlying cause of this needs to be identified. Which is where a crash report might help.
Updated Firefox to 3.6.16, still does it, probably sent about 20 crash reports over the last two days to them from this happening.
In the meantime I disabled SiteAdvisor and will wait to see what comes out of all the reports.
