Site Advisor & Yahoo Confusion

It seems that Yahoo is now using a beta version of McAfee Search Scan when doing a Yahoo search. This seems to have somehow disabled the Site Advisor ratings from displaying next to Yahoo search results. Anyone else seeing this behavior? Still works fine on Google and MSN. Please advise. Thanks much. P.S. back to using version 6253 after the upgrade/toolbar fiasco.

RE: Site Advisor & Yahoo Confusion

From a Yahoo Blog (05 May 2008):

How does it work? SearchScan leverages McAfee's SiteAdvisor technology to alert users if risky websites appear in Yahoo! Search results. Starting today, SearchScan will be turned on by default for all users in the U.S., Canada, UK, France, Italy, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, and Spain, and will scan for three types of risks in our search index

It would appear just to be an extension to Siteadvisor for Yahoo searches as previously they weren't covered.

The ratings appear in my Yahoo searches. Perhaps it's your Yahoo settings?

If the problem persists please fill in a feedback form with a link to this thread and a technician will get back to you as soon as they can: http://www.siteadvisor.com/userfeedback.html

RE: Site Advisor & Yahoo Confusion

Thanks for the tips-- tried different settings but no luck yet. Another downside is that Yahoo now requires a sign-in for the SearchScan function to remember settings-- ugh! Will forward my comments to the link you provided and use Google for searches until things get straightened out.

Me too

My problem with SiteAdvisor on Yahoo search started two days ago. But I noticed an oddity, it did show ratings for sponsored results.

Today I've lost siteadvisor all day even on Google. And, I haven't been able to reach any McAfee support sites. Why don't they post something on their main page with the "virus of the day" to tell us something is wrong?

Does anyone have an idea when it's going to end?

RE: Me too

Today McAfee's servers have been up and down so Siteadvisor hasn't been able to "phone home" for site/link details, which probably was what was starting when you noticed the problem in Yahoo.

YES-- same situation here--- although my Google results are coming up OK (at least for now). I am just hoping that this is not the "beginning-of-the-end" for Site Advisor, although recent developments, including the task-bar fiasco, do not bode well sad
