I have just installed the McAfee software and are now receiving ad blocker messages when I am using ITVPlayer (UK streaming TV). How can I turn it off?
Could you possibly provide us with a screenshot of the Prompts/Messages you are receiving? Are they specifically a McAfee Prompt ,such as Site Advisor? In any case I would try running AdwCleaner, which can be found here:
You may also find it beneficial running Malwarebytes (Free). To keep it free, do not enable the Free Trial/or Activate the Paid/Pro Version.
It is quite possibly you may have inadvertently installed a Potentially Unwanted Program, which could easily have been bundled with another application. Please kindly post back your results...

I think this may be SiteAdvisor and you may need to add the website to its Trusted Sites list.
On it's webpage click to the right of the SiteAdvisor icon to get the drop-down menu, click Options > Trusted Sites.
Good Point....
I doubt it's anything to do with SiteAdvisor. That just isn't set up to deal with streaming content. I thought maybe NetGuard was blocking access to some of the IP addresses, but even that didn't sound right.
No, I think this is probably the same thing that has been discussed in the Multimedia section of WebUserForums. There is probably an Ad Blocker in place somewhere, but I couldn't say if this is McAfee or not. We need screenshots.
Thee's a suggestion in the WebUserForums thread for how to get around the problem : it's not recent so no guarantees that it will still work. It's worth trying it, I suppose.
I could well be wrong. Certainly screen shots would be a great help.
Feel free to move it back wherever you think is best.
Thought so. There's lots of discussions in other places and the main culprit is as expected one of AdBlock or AdBlock Plus, although there are other candidates. We still need screenshots.

I agree, that was my first question to the OP. Hopefully some can be provided. Interesting find though
I certainly hope some screenshots can be provided, for my 'Crystal Ball' is on the 'Blink'....

It sounds rather Orwellian to me that a supposedly respected National institution would threaten its customers who want to avoid advertising.
I would have thought that having an Adblocker on ones device in the privacy of ones home is that person's business and nobody else's. I'd be interested to see where ITV would get in a court of law with their apparent argument.
That all said, if this is indeed the Adblocker add-on, then it has nothing to do with McAfee.. However we are waiting further input from the OP on this matter.
