Problem with SiteAdvisor reviewing website

Jump to solution

I tried registering my website and they mention about a specially named file that need to be placed at the root directory of the server where my website resides.  Does anyone know what should i name this file and what its content (I believe the content is a long stream on number or characters).

Just download the file and put it in the root directory of your Web server, using whatever filename is in the download dialogue.

The content of the file is a long alphanumeric string which will be unique to your website.

There seem to be recurring problems with WordPress sites so if you've got one of those see this thread

which may perhaps have found an answer to this message that some people get :

Error Submitting Site for Verification

It appears that the Web site <sitename removed>

is returning an HTTP 2xx or 3xx status response code in the header of 404 pages.

thanks for the quick reply and sorry that I have not answer back (new to this website). I was able to figure out the naming of the file and I have uploaded to my root directory. However, SiteAdvisor has not reviewed yet my website. How long does it take? How do I make sure that it will be reviewed?

I may have misled when I said it has not been reviewed. What I meant was there is no green check mark next to my website when Google finds it.

What is next to the site in Google search results? Not a green mark, but is there a grey one?

Testing can take several weeks but at a certain point if all goes well a site will often get a provisional Green rating.
