Whether or not you use it, you do have Internet Explorer 7 in Vista. If you ever had IE8 this could cause those symptoms and
that should be installed.
Go to Start/Control Panel/Network & Internet/Internet Options > Advanced tab and click the Reset button. Click Apply and OK.
You will now have to open the Programs tab & then Manage Add-ons and re-enable any add-ons you have. Do NOT alter any other settings.
It's important to keep Windows up to date with both critical and non-critical updates, including any that are for IE, whether you use it or not, as many applications rely on it, including all of McAfee's applications not to mnention many of Windows own applications.
