Just following up - we made some changes a couple of weeks ago that should have addressed this issue.
I'd like to find out if anyone is still experiencing memory leak issues with Firefox or Chrome (with SiteAdvisor plugin enabled, of course) - please let me know.
Sorry I have taken so long to reply.
I believe the major memory leak issue has been resolved and have confirmed it on a about 3 PCs. This is with Windows XP and using Firefox 8.0.
I have seen a much slower leaking than was observed before, this one is about 100Kb/sec and not as drastic as was seen before. Then after a few minutes a recovery occurs and the memory usage drops. Also the processor usage is a lot lower than before when nothing is happening.
Although Firefox memory usage is creping up over a few hours, it's NOT the big issue it was.
It has reach the point when SiteAdvisor is left installed on my PC.
So well done for fixing the major memory leak issue. [:)]

running Windows XP with Service Pack 3, and has 3.00 GB of RAM
(which I manually upgraded from the factory installed 1.00 GB RAM).
I have Process Lasso running, which I got from the giveawayoftheday.com
site ( http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/process-lasso-pro-51/ ). This
program shows the amount of usage of my CPU and RAM every time I
mouse over its icon in my systray.
Earlier today, while having 5 tabs open in Firefox, I moused over
the Process Lasso icon in the systray and the RAM was at 80%, so no,
I don't think the problem has been solved.
Please make sure you have SiteAdvisor 3.4.1.195. The leak was in SA 3.4. You can install this from siteadvisor.com.
Also, please note that the RAM can be at 80%. but should recover when you close all the tabs.
In Firefox, if I go to the menu bar and choose Tools > Add-ons I see:
McAfee SiteAdvisor 3.4.1.123
In McAfee Security Center, if I click on About and scroll down, I see:
McAfee SiteAdvisor
Version: 3.4
Build: 3.4.1.195
Last Update: 2/25/2012
And yes, my RAM recovers when I close all Firefox tabs.
I am worried about updating to Firefox 10 in case SiteAdvisor
won't work with Firefox 10 (and so I haven't updated Firefox
to version 10). Should I be worried?
No worries. We work with FF 10. I use it all the time.
When I went to update Firefox to version 10.0.2, a window came up
that said:
Incompatible Add-ons Found
Some of your add-ons won't work with this update, and will be
disabled. As soon as they are made compatible, Firefox will
update and re-enable these add-ons:
McAfee ScriptScan for Firefox 14.4.1
Incidentally . . .
In Firefox, when I go to the menu bar and choose Tools > Add-ons,
in Plugins I see:
McAfee SiteAdvisor 3.4.1.123
In Firefox, when I go to the menu bar and choose Tools > Add-ons,
in Extensions, I see:
McAfee SiteAdvisor 3.4.1.195
It's a false alarm, simply go into your add-ons/extensions and check that SiteAdvisor and Scriptscan are enabled. The warning should have stated
Some of your add-ons may not work with this update, and could be
disabled.
There are 2 different .dll's involved, hence those 2 different versions showing in different areas. Just click to the right of your SiteAdvisor icon and select 'About' and it will tell you the correct version - the latest being 3.4.1.195
I just upgraded to Firefox 10, and it seems to have been a
false alarm, just as you said.
Thanks.
And thanks for the explanation about the 2 different .dll's, too.
That's great. Works fine in mine too.
