Hello, I am having a problem with my new McAfee protection and am wondering if anyone is able to assist me.
I purchased McAfee yesterday for my laptop, which I bought about a month ago. Since I purchased the software, it has bene acting weird on some sites. For example, whenever I try to watch a video on YouTube, I will get halfway through a video before the video suddenly stops and it goes to a screen with a small red "circle with a diagnoal line" symbol in the top left-hand corner of the screen. As you can imagine, this can get very annoying after dealing with it over and over again. So, I was wondering if there was some way to disable this function for certain websites. I am not sure why YouTube would be blocked, or why it would block it halfway through watching a video rather than while trying to get on the website. If anyone is able to help me, I would greatly appreciate it.
I apologise if I have posted this in the wrong thread. I am new here, so I'm sorry if I made a mistake.
Also, I am using Mozilla Firefox, if that matters.
If this is in Firefox it could be caused by an Extension or Plug-In. When it happens again take a screenshot and post it so we can see what it's doing. It may not be McAfee doing this. SiteAdvisor possibly, but I haven't seen it do that before.
Same thing is happening to me. It happens frequently, even with completely routine everyday sites like eBay. YERY frustrating! I might be scrolling through a list on eBay, and the screen flips suddenly to a grey background with a 'forbidden' symbol in the top left corner, just as the earlier poster described. With other sites, it goes to this straightaway.
What's especially worrying is that it's getting more frequent -- it's behaving almost like a hijacker. I've tried System Restore to take the computer back to a time I know was before this started happening, but the problem is still going on just the same as ever. After a week of this, It's starting to inhibit my ability to work on the computer. BTW, I also use Firefox.
Here's a screen shot of what I get:
And, in case it adds anything, the URL is:
I got this when browsing a page on eBay. Will somebody please help!!

Same happening to me - started last night as far as I can tell. It's even blocking uk.news.yahoo.com/. It is only doing it when browsing with Firefox though, IE and Safari both seem to work ok.
McAfee is blocking a script from the look of it. In Firefox that's handled by one of the extensions - ScriptScan for Firefox. Try disabling it and see if the pages display BUT be aware that if it's blocking a script there may be a very good reason for doing so.
In Firefox I would strongly advise that if you haven't already got it installed you get hold of NoScript, which will give you extra security if you're going to disable McAfee's ScriptScan. You can get it from "Get Add-Ons" in Firefox or from Giorgio Maone's site at http://noscript.net
