I notice that when I started IE, FFOX and Chrome I received this across the
page (right under Bookmarks Toolbar). At the left looks like a McAfee
shield, and the words McAfee Site Advisor, but is a duller shade of red and
it has a dialog box asking me if I want to add risk ratings to my search
results. It also has a checkbox to make Secure Search my default search
engine. I clicked FINISH without clicking the checkbox and it went away.
Is this a real McAfee message. It looked suspicious to me.
I took a screen shot and included it.

Yes it is McAfee, it's part of SiteAdvisor.
Moved to SiteAdvisor.
If you don't want Secure Search (which is through Yahoo) then don't check that box but click the Finish button and it shouldn't appear again, until the software upgrades to the next version and may ask you again.
It's genuine.
So this is not part of McAfee? It doesn't sound like it is even though there is the McAfee shield and 'McAfee Site Advisor' displayed.
