HTTP 2xx or 3xx status response code in the header of 404 pages.

Jump to solution

I'm having the the same issue another post is having for our site realestatesigns.com.

When submitting our site I get:

"We cannot verify a Web site that is configured this way because it allows anyone to verify themselves as the owner of your site. Please update your Web site server configuration to return 404 status codes in the headers for pages that do not exist. Once your site is configured this way then you can return and request a file name verification."

I have to say that our 404's are configured correctly so I'm not sure what else there is I can do. Feel free to check http://realestatesigns.com/asdfasdf

I searched the web and found other people having the same issues but there doesn't seem to be a resolution for this.

Your service is also blocking our site RealEstateSigns.com for no apparent reason that I can find.

I Put a support ticket in last week Tuesday I believe, I called Mcafee and was told that it would take 4-6 weeks to get a response.

That is very unreasonable considering you are preventing us from doing business with one of our clients.

The McAfee Site Advisor Site Rating is our opinion of a web site’s reputation. The site rating is based on a variety of attributes that, in our judgment, provide the best indication of a site’s reputation over time. These attributes include suspect downloads, browser exploits, number of e-mails sent by the site, affiliations with other sites, and pop-ups.  Information on how we rate, along with the definition of the ratings can be found at:

http://www.siteadvisor.com/ratingpolicy.html

Site Advisor Ratings issues can only be resolved by the Avert Labs Services team, or by the Site Advisor Research and Development teams.  This can make calls from customers around Site Advisor Ratings difficult as these customers often times expect immediate resolution.  However, there are some tools and information available to that should be reviewed prior to escalating a case to McAfee Avert Labs:

Site Advisor Dossier – Every rated website has a Dossier available for public view at www.siteadvisor.com.  Going to the Site Advisor homepage, you will see at the bottom of the page:

" look up a site report: " here u need to enter teh site which  cant access .

By entering the website domain that the you  are telling about it will take you to that sites dossier page that includes all the information an the ratings of the different faces, the rating of the overall site, and why the rating is the color that it is:

With this information, as well as the information available within the rating policy document, you should have enough information to let the customer know why their site has been given the rating that is has.

Yes. You mean this link which is the one I already provided in my post.

http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/realestatesigns.com

Please look at that page and tell me, what is wrong with our site? It only says we are a potential security risk, use with extreme caution. But there's no other explanation.

From what I'm reading your company blocks sites based on opinion and not fact then?

I hope so because I've been put in the pressure cooker over this issue and a lot of people are looking to me to fix this.

Your site is green rated anyway so why are you trying to submit it?

I see that in my browser at least the icon is green until I click on it and then I get what you have shown above.  That isn't what this thread was about though.  Are you getting the http error they are talking about?  If not I will branch this off to a new thread of your own.
