RE: My reputation is being damaged for no reason!

That's a standard response. I would imagine it will be a lot sooner and, from what I've seen here, someone will most likely look in here by Monday.

In the same boat...

We are experiencing almost the identical situation as Julie111. Our site has been tagged with a red warning for more than a year, but it wasn't until we typed our name in Yahoo and saw the big red warning beside our name that we became aware of the situation. Our site (cncmotion.com) has been tagged as sending 'Unsolicited e-mails' even though we have never engaged in this sort of activity. The e-mails that SA got back from our site don't even remotely have anything to do with spam, rather I think a form on our site was not functioning properly and the message was returned.

This can hardly be considered spam in my opinion. Nevertheless, we have been attempting to contact McAfee and Yahoo over the past month and have not received one satisfactory reply. Only that our site would be retested in eight weeks time. We cannot afford to have our reputation ruined through no fault of our own. I understand this technology was meant to make the internet a safer place, but not at the expense of honest companies trying to make a living in these difficult times.

Mistakes are made, but correcting them in a prompt manner would be a step in the right direction for McAfee if they are interested in people purchasing their products. Just think of how reputable sites are getting false positives.

Do you think any of these people will buy McAfee products if this is the kind of customer service they can expect to receive?

RE: In the same boat...

I have similar issues with http://bestbgproperties.com . It's been 4 weeks now and not one hint that someone has done anything about my deteriorating reputation.

I've filled out every form I could find, talked to support several times and scraped the net for any page that has the word "siteadvisor" in it.

All I got from the forms I submitted was an automated reply, stating I have to wait 2 months before they do something about my crumbling business. Every time I talked to support was they have no idea if my site is even in the.

To top that off, every time I visit this forum I get a little bit more depressed, because I see it might be months before the red flag is removed from my site; by that time, I might as well be flipping burgers at McDonald's, because I won't have a single customer coming from the SERPs.

I know there are millions of sites, I know it's the webmaster's fault if something goes haywire with his site (even if the problem is not with his site and I know no one will bother with this message. But if somebody does bother and he has a voice in the SA team, I think it's high time to start getting status reports on our disputes. It's ridiculous to hear there's no way to check the testing que, from paid McAfee support.

I was going to go on a long rant, how such a software shouldn't be free to label sites as malicious, before contacting their owners. I was even going to go as far as suggesting you pull this thing off the shelves, until all the kinks of the system are worked out. But my only suggestion is to let people know you're actually doing something.

It's people's businesses we're talking about here, surely the least they deserve is reassurance something is being done to remedy their woes after being slapped in the face, with an unfair verdict by a non-scrutinized algorithm.

I think we can all agree, that this type of Guantanamo Bay approach to labeling sites, could be softened up by a more responsive team.
