Cannot disable protected mode

I want to use another browser (Safari) and it says I need to disable protected mode. No problem right? BUT it will not disable. I put the correct password and used both IE and Firefox to try and disable it. Either one fails at doing so. I want to know if there is a way to fix the problem

Comp specs:
Windows XP SP3
502 MB RAM
HP Pavilion dv1000 notebook PC

It will be easiest for you just to uninstall it, then reinstall if you wish.

That would work but I am not the account holder so it is not that easy to download a fresh one. And if I download it off the siteadvisor page, will it have SA PLUS in it? (I have McAfee total protection)

No, it would be the regular SA from the website.

Can't you get hold of the account holder?
