I installed the free version of SiteAdvisor about 18 months ago and found it useful. I could click the ‘traffic-light” icon by a site entry in a Google search result screen, a balloon would appear, I could click the Details link and immediately get information concerning that site. But during the last few months something appeared to go wrong. Whenever I tried to access the Details link in the balloon, I would be taken to a page that offered Virus Scan Plus and contained a link captioned “No Thanks. Continue to Site Report”
When I clicked the link I was taken to another page that once again stated “No Thanks. Continue to Site Report” but in a different part of the screen. Off the screen at the bottom was another message: “Sorry, we couldn’t find the page you were looking for”
This happened every time, so I uninstalled SiteAdvisor, downloaded the latest version 2.6.0.6253 and tried again. I was still unable to access the Details.
I used Virtual Technician to check the installation and it reported: No Problems Found.
Could someone please tell me if McAfee has changed the operation of the free version to limit it or is there something I can do to improve matters.
