Can't close pop-ups

Starting today, whenever my mouse even passes over a URL on a page, McAfee produces a pop-up to tell me whether it's safe.  However, the pop-up doesn't go away; the only way to get rid of it is to refresh the entire page, which is incredibly annoying.  If the only way to get this to stop is to disable McAfee, that's what I'll do, but I was hoping it wouldn't come to that.

Windows 10, Firefox.

Re: Can't close pop-ups

No need to disable your anti-virus, just WebAdvisor.   But it might benefit from being reinstalled.  Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and uninstall just McAfee WebAdvisor, then go to this website and reinstall it: McAfee WebAdvisor by Intel Security

Once reinstalled call up the settings and make sure that it is is set to check using all search engines.

While in Programs and Features, make sure that there isn't an entry for McAfee Security Scan Plus.  If there is, uninstall it as it is only a sales tool and can inadvertently be installed when installing and/or updating Adobe products as they offer it as an optional download during the process..

Re: Can't close pop-ups

Are you still having this issue? We have a member of the webadvisor team wanting to address the issue but they (McAfee/Intel) cannot not reproduce it.

Re: Can't close pop-ups

I am having the same problem.

The window will not go away and does not appear to be linked to any active window.  When I click on the popup window, whatever the most recent program window that was active remains active.

For example:

1.   When my active window is Google Chrome and I click on the window/popup my Mac shows Chrome as the active window.

2.   When my active window is Finder and I click on the window/popup my Mac shows Finder as the active window.

The popup has no content nor buttons to close the popup.

I have a screenshot, but cannot figure out how to provide it to you.
