Can I block the whole Internet?

Is it possible to block all sites? I have a single user that needs to get to 1 or 2 sites, but has a bad tendency to go,,, um, shall we say, off task?

I want to block all sites and allow just a few. I see how to allow any site and how to block any number of sites, but I do not see a way to block the whole internet.

Also, are there xml files we can download and import that will block for certain things? I.E. Porn, Gambling, chat sites, files sharing etc..

If not, this might be a nice niche market for someone.

Thank you.

RE: Can I block the whole Internet?

A HOSTS file will block the port, etc.. See the link below:

How To Use A HOSTS File

As to blocking EVERYTHING on the internet, most third party Firewalls can do that easily.. Simply enabled the "Internet Lock" options on various firewalls to stop everything.. If you want to block everything except for specific sites, then you may want to use blocking software such as NetNanny, or such.. Or frequently, your router has such options which allow you to pass through the router firewall to specific sites only.. Read your router manual for those instructions..

Hope this helps.

RE: Can I block the whole Internet?

After spending way more time on this than I should have, I think we've decided to go with the simplest solution.
Explorer's Content Adviser.
Block everything and allow only the few things required.

Thanks for the feedback!

RE: Can I block the whole Internet?

That will cause untold problems with security software such as McAfee, but you should see how it goes I suppose.

RE: Can I block the whole Internet?

LOL, well either deal with that or deal with viruses\malware\spyware from Pornsites if I leave the user alone!

Thanks for the heads up.
