Also same time I’m get "mcafee security center has stopped working". i tried all the fixes, didn't help. have to reinstall mcafee after each update. Then it works till next update with restart. if there is update without restarting computer it's not a problem.
Had live chat with mcafee support and also called tech support. they did exactly what I did, reinstalled antivirus plus and as always it worked till new mcafee update which required restart. And fix on this link http://service.mcafee.com/faq/TS101446.htm doesn’t work. Only reinstall.

Before we go on for the next reinstall, pls post back the below info;
Operating system :
Bit : 32 bit/ 64 bit
Open Internet explorer - Click on Tools _ Click Windows Update
-> And install any available update. (Most importantly, do let us know if you encountered any errors amidst windows update)
And How old is the computer ?
Was there any other security software/ freebie antivirus installed prior to McAfee ?

bit: 32 bit,
windows is up to date,
computer is 4 years old,
and only security software for the last 4 years i use is mcafee antivirus plus

That is why Mcafee suggests a reinstall it fixed this poster and only post other than yours re that actual error.
that said I assume you uninstalled via

Using both windows removal and teh removal tool rebooted and ran

Reinstall from your account. Actually might be a good idea to reinstall from the aussie server that way you get the new 2012 version which might not cause an issue. Just change country on the account page to australia.

i did it many times, and tech team did exactly same:
complete uninstall via Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program,
run the MCPR cleanup tool,
run mcpreinstall tool from http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/Mcpreinstall.exe,
and then install the software again from my online account (this time i also change country on the account page to australia, just in case).
and it always works till next automatic update by mcafee, then i have a problem "mcagent.exe -application error (0xc000009a)" and then i have to do
everything all over again. and this happens once or twice a day for about a month, that's why i start looking for another antivirus software.

I will talk about this in our Monday call. Though as I mentioned have you tried an uninstall then reinstall using the aussie server to get the latest 2012 version?
one tip: activate MU(Microsoft Update) & install all updates for .Net.
yes, i did used aussie server for reinstall, didn't make any difference.
and my mu(microsoft update) is active and all .net updates are installed.

Re aussie server what version of Mcafee did you get? If you are using XP you may not get MSC12
