No minimal resources on adds 4hrs to my scanning time. I was asking if you checked again if it is off for your scanning settings.

I saw no such settings when I started the scan. I see no such settings (anymore) when I use Navigation. to browse through what looks like appropriate places it might be in.

features, scan your pc

features, real-time scanning

features, scheduled scanning (off)

general settings and alerts

I did not see a checkbox for this when I started the customscan that I remember. I only saw 1 checkbox, and that was for zip files.

Custom scan Go to Run a scan option and "Customise your scan" and it is at the bottom

Scheduled scan and schedule a scan same option there.

For full scan no such option

this info alone MAY help someone at McA debug the IF you have a .map file you can maybe nail down which function it's in based on the offset.

Try running this file

http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/Mcpreinstall.exe

It resets a few things. Also if above does not help clean your temp and internet temp fles.

Re: mcafee scan crashes when there is 1.13TB of data

it's worse now, I have more data, and it still crashes. I have 34GB of virrual memory though, but still a 32-bit cpu and OS so apps can't address more than 4GiB of RAM (minus the 512MiB for the video card).

in a nutshell,

if you have big data, BUY  A 64-bit BOX WITH LOTS OF RAM.

this may fix the problem.

however, maybe there is a problem in mcods.exe the realtime scanner which dies only on certain files of mine. I would be curious to know which those are.

it crashed again on the 13th. I started on the 10th at about 2am.
