Windows Security Center notifies that Windows defender and McAfee VirusScan are turned off

Jump to solution

Hi,

I am using McAfee 16.0 R38 and Windows 11.

Recently, I've observed that Windows Security Center randomly notifies that "Windows defender and McAfee VirusScan are both turned off. Tap or click to see installed anti-virus apps." In Windows Security Center, Windows defender and McAfee VirusScan, Windows Firewall and McAfee Firewall are all turned off. However, McAfee shows all components are turned on and McAfee services are actually running. I used EICAR testing file to verify this. This problem can be temporarily resolved by restarting the computer, but it will recur.

I followed the steps in this article but it seems to be of no help as I am not using McAfee Enterprise Products.

Hi @sivasubramanian ,

My McAfee has been updated to 16.0 R39.

This issue still persists, but not as frequently as before.

I think McAfee developer should investigate this issue and fix the bug.
