Like this for 2 days... been on for 11 hours today, restarted @ 0 after powering on.
PC has been both sleeping and in use but it goes no further?
Suggestions?
Hi @IrvSp ,
We request you to run the McAfee malware Cleaner before initiating a full scan. Reach out to consumer support if you need further assistance.
Best regards,
Kumar
Thanks Kumar,
I ran it and I don't like the files it found at all?
The first appears to be of no consequence, and the 2nd is NOT a problem. It IS an Intel file, see https://www.freefixer.com/library/file/task.exe-256069/ and I checked some other stuff, as these were the results of the run:
Almost all the Registry entries it wanted to delete Unused File extensions....
I'm restoring everything and I do NOT trust what it found?
I'm run other Malware programs and they are clean.
By the way, have you seen this post here I just saw, https://forums.mcafee.com/t5/VirusScan/Full-Scan-does-not-complete/m-p/717836? Seems to be the same and a KNOWN problem, no?
Anyway, I'm going to restore EVERYTHING rather than risk damage or needed extensions removed before I need them.
Well, not only did it DELETE everything (without warning), it could NOT restore what it took out, or at least part of them.
I had to REINSTALL the KILLER s/w even.
When it failed to restore it told me to try another backup point. That too failed. Doesn't bother me as I used FULL system back-ups weekly.
Not sure why it failed, but I'm over that now anyway.
Will NEVER use that program again.
And to top it off, for some unknown reason, the SCAN that was causing me a problem DID not restart today...
Hey I'm using Windows 10.
For the issue below:
McAfee Support Community - High CPU occupancy of VirusScan program. - McAfee Support Community
I want to uninstall McAfee temporarily and wait for the update.
But the process hanged at 55% for several hours.
Can't give you a screenshot now, coz I'm at the office. Not at home. (My home is using McAfee)
I forced the machine to restart and the program was cleaned.
