VShieldScanner pops up repeatedly on my system hogging Memory and CPU on Mac Monterey. I disabled scheduled scans long ago because that was the only suggestion McAfee admins have suggested but that still doesn't do it.
Please just let us know if McAfee is abandoning Mac users so we can get different security software.
Hi @markeakin
We regret for the inconvenience!
Please try disabling scheduled scan and check issue status. If you still face issues, Please check in activity monitor which McAfee process consumes most memory and kill the process.
Alternatively, You can always contact the chat support using below link for technical assistance.

Really? I even said in my post that I disabled scheduled scans. I have to check activity monitor regularly and delete multiple instances of VShieldScanner like playing a game of whack-a-mole.
McAfee used to be able to work with scheduled scans turned on. It's been broken for a year now. Your response takes me back to my original question: Why doesn't McAfee care enough to solve the problem instead of covering it up by having customers put bandaids on the symptoms?
It looks like McAfee has abandoned Mac users.
I spent an hour with a tech support last week who installed a new version from scratch. Guess what? A scheduled scan started 11:00 pm on Friday night. Now, on Sunday afternoon there is a 34GB instance (one of many) of VShieldScanner clogging my CPU. Nope. Problem not fixed.
