I have got a problem with downloading files on my computer. every time it's incomplete with the message, Failed - Virusscan failed. I had no problem with this until april 2020. What can i do to fix this problem? I think it has to do with the anti-virus program. I have tried all the Windows fixes, but it doesn't work... Hope you can help me fix this 🙂

Hiya, I'm having the same problems that just seem to coincide with the installation of the newest version of Edge.
The problem persists on Chrome or Edge though.
Example source website: https://fe.bolindadigital.com/ - digital library download website
File type: ePub
The same problem occurs with .exe .pdf and windows update files.
Error messages:
Edge - "Couldn't download - virus scan failed"
Chrome - "Failed - virus scan failed"
Edge - Version 84.0.522.63
Chrome - 84.0.4147.135
McAfee -
BT Virus Protect v16 16.0.R26
McAfee Security Centre Affld: 691 Build: 18.6.164 Updated 27/8/2020
OS:
Windows 10 Pro

I've run the McAfee uninstaller, restarted and reinstalled from a fresh download. Made no difference.
Cookies, caches and temp files have been cleared before different attempts.
McAfee has been turned off - no difference.

Hi Madhan,
Waiting for an update isn't an option as this is impacting commercial and business downloads.
I've used the Windows Uninstaller and then run the MCPR to get rid of the debris.
This has worked, so for the moment I'm not using McAfee.
Once the update has been released I can look again.
Hello @Gizmo63
I recommend you to reinstall McAfee Anti Virus since your computer will be vulnerable and not protected if there is no McAfee installed. Also, by reinstalling you wont face the problem again. Please follow the below McAfee Article to reinstall McAfee
How to download and install McAfee consumer products
Post reinstalling McAfee, follow the below steps provided in the above reply to reinstall WebAdvisor since that's the one causing this problem and reinstalling will fix it. Once its resolved, you don't have to wait for the update and you should be good to go.
Let us know the outcome
