VirusScan 13.3 detection signature file

My McAfee says my computer is not completly protected because the detection signature file has not been updated in the last 8-29 days, is it because my laptop is not connected to the internet? I have unconnected it because I only use it during the school year and use my home computer during the summer. Is there anything I can do, I don't like having my computer unprotected.
Thanks,
Jessica W happy

RE: VirusScan 13.3 detection signature file

Hi

Please clarify,
What is the version of operating system you use (Vista / XP)?
Did you receive any kind of alert/advertisements or pop-ups in the computer?

Steps:

Ping the Downlaod.mcafee.com and post the IP address you get (Start-Run-type CMD- ping download.mcafee.com)
Download the tool from: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MSCPRXFIX.exe.
Double-click MSCPRXFIX.exe.
After running the tool, restart the computer. To check for updates, right-click the M icon in the system tray and select Updates.
Perform the McAfee Virtual Technician in both computer and post the session ID http://mvt.mcafee.com/mvt/default.asp

RE: VirusScan 13.3 detection signature file

I have Vista and the only thing that came up was the McAfee security center saying I'm not fully protected. To do the steps you said, would I have to connect my laptop to the internet. Because I'm not using it now, I'm using the home desktop.
Thanks,

Yes, You have to be connected to the internet to download McAfee update because McAfee needs to be update on daily basis if not then you will get the message you’re computer is not fully protected Signature file is outdated
