Developed a c# program using VS 2019 16.5.0. Installed on Windows 10, and it ran perfectly. Created Portable App of program with WinRAR SFX (Ver. 5.90). When I try to run the portable app, McAfee says it has detected a virus (Real Protect LS!BC84D9D7205D) and will not allow the program execute. HELP!
Just to make sure there was not a problem with WinRAR, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it from a freshly downloaded installer.
I added both the portable app and the base executable inside the portable app to the excluded list per guidance, but that did not solve problem. After exclusion...
First indication when i clicked on portable app was popup notification "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them.". That was immediately followed by the McAfee notification of virus found. Examining that gave different virus than original message. This time it was Real Protect LS!DC8EE12D3B16. BY the way the path called out in the first popup was to the temp folder where the portable app was to put the base executable.
