Thanks, Somer, so nice to have a real person respond. It's SR-492501916.

I typed it in cmd but it says can't find location
Hi, Somer.
I'm one of the lucky ones that got up and running again using SDAT5958_EM.
However, I'm unable to update my DAT files, which would have been the last step -- so that leaves me lucky but vulnerable. When I click "Check for Updates" from the M in the taskbar, it never gets past 0%. I tried downloading and running the 5961 XDAT file, but got the error message "Unable to find any qualifying McAfee Products." By the way, McAfee says it still has DAT version 5958.
Any suggestions so that I can finally go to sleep? Thanks!

I am going to be really mad if I have to pay somebody to fix the problem McAfee caused. This is getting ridiculous, I know it has to be a simple fix but unfortunately I am not techy enough to know what that is. Tech Support said somebody would call me within 24 hours but that did not happen. I have always suggested McAfee to everybody and actually put it on all of the computers at work. I am having to reconsider at this time. I just want my computer back running the way it was before the bad update! Please HELP!
Hi, I did as you suggested and according to Windows, I'm all up to date now, so I'll just believe that I'm safe
Take care!
Gina,
You won't have to pay to fix this. We're giving support over the phone for this issue for free, and chat is also free. I'll find the number for you.
Wat to do with Virusscan enterprise?
Hey Ted,
I'd just uninstall and reinstall. Here's a link to the MCPR tool: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe
Run that, reboot, and reinstall. Then SLEEP!
That would explain why the folder didn't exist. Thought I was losing my mind there Richard.

Thanks for your previous notes but it looks like you have forgotten me now??
I still have the same problems:
Whilst windows loads fine:
- I now have no internet connection whereas before it was just desperately slow and certainly caused by something the Mcafee update did
- pinging my router says unreachable even though it is plugged in, has been turned off several times, etc
- system restore will not work; it opens and stops as a blank white window
It looks like I have an svchost.exe file in system 32 folder but also an svchost(3) file too - not sure if this is right?
I have some Mcafee products still on here despite removing them using the MPR tool.......... perhaps they have resurfaced from doing the system restore (?) but no virusscan and no DAT folders, etc.
I have tried all the posted fixes but think that I am now in more of a mess as I am further from the start point..........I have been trying to fix this for two days now!
Mcafee has put me in a right mess and I have no idea how to fix it?
I have a Service Request of 492177646 and wonder if anyone will ever call me??
If I take it to a computer specialist to sort out - how will Mcafee refund this for me??
I really need some help and am getting really frustrated.
Appreciate everyone is trying their best and probably haven't slept for 2 days or so but I paid for a product that has seriously screwed up my machine and I want it fixed.
I have spent too much time on this already and worry that the things I am doing are making it worse?
Regards
