Scheduling a Scan Via the Microsoft Office Scheduled Tasks?

Greetings,

I have successfully configured Virus Scan 13.0 to execute automatically. However, this is done from within the control center, and there is no entry in the Microsoft Office Scheduled Tasks folder.

The issue with this is that if the machine is not on, I can´t configure the task to wake it up and the scan will not take place.

Is this possible? I think it might because the Defragementation and QuickClean tasks have also been automated and I find entries for them in the Scheduled Tasks folder.

Thank you for your help.

I'm afraid that isn't possible, at least with the home products.

Peter,

Thank you for the response. Perhaps somebody else will know a trick you don´t? It would be nice.

The question has been asked many times and no-one thus far has figured out a way.
Good luck though, I've always said that nothing is impossible.

RE: Scheduling a Scan Via the Microsoft Office Scheduled Tasks?

Peter,

I have seen how the QuickClean and Defrag jobs are scheduled in the Windows Task Manager area, so I think it would just be a matter of ironing out three things:

- Finding out the full path name of the VirusScan executable
- Finding out if/what parameters to code the scan job with
- Code the entry using the other two as models

Just because it does not happen right now, doesn´t mean that it is not possible. They probably just did not think about it. And as a consultant, I have seen many instances where we figure out to make things work, even if they are not supported.

Technical support people and purists like me don´t really go for it, but I have seen it time and time again, specially when in the end you are obtaining some competitive advantage, like performance.

Thank you for the help.

As I said, good luck. Many have tried, all have failed....thus far.

RE: Scheduling a Scan Via the Microsoft Office Scheduled Tasks?

Peter,

Even though this might be a challenge, and I like that, I am not sure I have the time to devote to it.

So far my search for the VirusScan executable has not been successful. Then there is the issue of coding the parameters of the scan, including which devices and how thorough.

I have to see if I find any documentation on the subject online. Like I said, it might be time consuming so I am not promissing anything.

Thank you for the feedback.
