I have the same problem of Scheduled Scan defaulting to PM.
A workaround (not a solution) that I applied and it may work for you: Choose the first option “Select a schedule”; apply & reboot; re-select ‘Create my own scan schedule’ with an AM time and it SHOULD accept.

I do not see any tier 2 interaction for your case, please contact McAfee again and ask for Tier 2 support. Once it’s been escalated to Tier 2 team post Tier 2 case number for reference.

Window Vista SP2 & IE9.
On 3/12/13, I used the add/remove programs to remove McAfee Security Center; ran MCPR; reinstalled McAfee.
Problem remains.
