Scheduled scan not turning on

I am using McAfee AnitVirus Plus.  When I click on the Virus and Spyware Protection tab, there is a little notice that says "Attention!".

I open the tab and see that Scheduled Scanning is turned off.  So I click on it, click the "Turn On" button and Apply, and go back to Home.

Where the Virus tab still says "Attention!" and the Scheduled Scanning is still listed as Off.

I can go through this process as many times as I want, but I CANNOT get the Scehduled Scan to stay ON.

What is the issue here?  How do I get it to turn on and STAY on?

Thanks,

Scott

Re: Scheduled scan not turning on

Have you tried using the McAfee Virtual Technician from here?

Re: Scheduled scan not turning on

Hi Scott,

Please update us with the below information;

What is the operating system ? (Win xp/vista/7)

Do you currently have any other antivirus software installed ? Or in the past ?
Did you install McAfee from a cd or from the Online account ?
Please click on Navigation >> then Click on About and let us know the version of

  • Virus Scan
  • DAT

Re: Scheduled scan not turning on

Hi Dinesh,

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium

I also have Ad-Aware version 9.02 installed.

Windows firewall is off.

McAfee was installed from my online account.

Here is my McAfee info:

McAfee version.jpg

I ran a full scan yesterday and founf nothing but old cookies, no virus threats.

This was working before, I don't know why it turned off.  Maybe one of your downloaded updates?

Thanks,

Scott

Do you have another Av software installed ie adware? If so free or paid version?

Re: Scheduled scan not turning on

See my previous post for all versions and software installed.

And no, it is not fixed yet.  Still won't turn on.

I was hoping this issue already existed and had been dealt with by McAfee.

Re: Scheduled scan not turning on

Sorry I was asking Cherry. No have not seen this before. Though I would be tempted to uninstall reinstall the product to see if the original install got messed up.

Uninstall via

http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?lc=1033&id=TS100507

reboot then run

http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/Mcpreinstall.exe

reinstall the product

Re: Scheduled scan not turning on

I just got ATT Uverse and am having the identical problem with the downloaded Mcafee suite. Have run the VT and it says everything is fine.

Ran a full scan and it did not find any viruses etc.

Ran FIXIT utilities to check the PC and they said all is fine as well.

Cleaned and defragged the Registry

I have installed, uninstalled etc. and always the same thing.

the PC has Win 7 Ultimate and is a HP/Compaq Desktop

I have another HP on my network that is a Win 7 Premium laptop and it works fine on that one.

Both PCs had been running Norton which was removed prior to the install. I then ran the Mcafee clean up etc. and went through all the steps per the online directions.

I have opened a support ticket but it has been days and so far all I have is an automated email with the ticket number.
