Scanning one file shows up as having scanned two files

Hello, I've recently noticed that for some of my files when I perform a manual right-click scan, the results say that double the amount of files have been scanned - so if I scan one file, the results says it's scanned two.  This isn't true for all files, and has happened with certain .rars and Word docs.  Some of these files I know have been scanned in the past and counted as 1 file.  The scans don't show anything is wrong, but I just seems odd that this has started happening.  Anyone have any thoughts?  Thanks in advance.

It's only a guess but I would assume the software sees two parts to the file.  Not knowing exactly how it works, just a guess, sorry.

Cheers for the reply, I've noticed that a common factor seems to be that only files downloaded from the internet are being seen as two, while files that I've created, e.g. a Word doc, count as one.

There may be a hidden file that goes with it.    You'd have to enable hidden files and folders plus maybe enable viewing hidden system files in folder option/View.

For some reason I can't view the hidden files even when I tick it?

Ah, yes, cheers for that, I had to unitck 'Hide extensions for known file types' and 'Hide protected operating system files', suddenly the .ini's and db's appeared and other stuf, too.  Although, the 'doubled up' files don't show anything.
